Haïti : un an après le séisme, l’UNICEF appelle à faire plus pour les enfants

L’agence onusienne dénonce les conditions de vie exécrables de quatre millions de jeunes haïtiens n’ayant pas accès à l’eau potable, à la santé, ni à l’éducation de base

<="TEXTE">7 janvier 2011 – Un an après le séisme dévastateur en Haïti, les quatre millions d’enfants haïtiens manquent toujours d’accès aux services de base comme l’eau et l’assainissement, les soins de santé et l’éducation, ainsi que la protection contre les maladies, l’exploitation et les mauvaises conditions sanitaires, affirme un nouveau rapport de du Fonds des Nations Unies pour l’enfance (UNICEF)) publié vendredi.

« Ce sont surtout les enfants qui ont souffert et continuent de souffrir énormément des crises qui se sont succédées en 2010. Ils ne jouissent toujours pas pleinement de leurs droits à la survie, à la santé, à l’éducation et à la protection », a déclaré la Représentante de l’UNICEF en Haïti Françoise Gruloos-Ackermans.

« Haïti connaît des problèmes institutionnels et systémiques importants, qui datent d’avant le séisme, et il faudra plus qu’une intervention d’urgence pour les résoudre. La nécessité n’en est que plus évidente, pour des organismes comme l’UNICEF, d’élaborer et renforcer des interventions structurelles qui permettront de préparer convenablement le pays et ses habitants pour l’avenir », a-t-elle ajouté.

Malgré les efforts des Haïtiens et de la communauté internationale plus d’un million de personnes dont environ 380.000 enfants vivent toujours dans des camps surpeuplés. L’accès à l’eau, l’assainissement et l’hygiène représentent un défi décisif. Avant le séisme, seulement 19% de la population avait accès à des installations sanitaires de base contre 29% en 1990.

Afin de pallier ce manque, l’UNICEF a fourni cette année plus de 11.300 latrines bénéficiant à plus de 800.000 personnes. Immédiatement après le séisme, l’UNICEF, l’Organisation mondiale de la santé (OMS) et d’autres partenaires ont mené des campagnes de vaccination d’urgence afin de vacciner plus 2 millions d’enfants contre des maladies comme la polio, la diphtérie et la rougeole. La distribution de 360.000 moustiquaires imprégnées d’insecticide a permis de toucher plus de 163.000 ménages dans les régions côtières du sud où le paludisme est endémique.

Au plus fort des interventions d’urgence, l’UNICEF et ses partenaires faisaient parvenir quotidiennement par camion une moyenne de 8,3 millions de litres d’eau salubre destinés à plus de 680.000 personnes. Compte tenu de l’épidémie de choléra actuelle, l’UNICEF achemine actuellement plus de 10,9 tonnes de chlore et 45 millions de tablettes de purification de l’eau pour que plus de 3 millions de personnes puissent avoir de l’eau salubre dans la capitale et les villes avoisinantes. Sur la protection des enfants, 4.948 enfants ont été pris en charge et 1.265 d’entre eux ont pu retrouver leur famille.

Concernant l’éducation, plus de 720.000 enfants ont pu reprendre le chemin de l’école.

« Nous avons obtenu des résultats au cours de l’année écoulée, mais des lacunes importantes demeurent et il faut en faire beaucoup plus, en collaboration avec les Nations Unies, les organisations non-gouvernementales, le secteur privé, la société civile et les partenaires gouvernementaux afin que nous puissions respecter nos engagements envers les femmes et les enfants, notamment celui de remédier à la situation de ceux qui ont été déplacés par le séisme ou de ceux qui vivent dans des zones rurales reculées et de répondre à leurs besoins quotidiens », a expliqué la Représentante de l’UNICEF en Haïti.

« Les enfants d’Haïti ont le droit, en grandissant, de recevoir une éducation, une bonne nutrition, de l’eau potable et un assainissement sûr - et nous sommes convaincus que si on les appuie et qu’on s’y engage, il est possible de planter les graines du relèvement et du développement et d’atteindre ces objectifs », a-t-elle conclu.

L’épidémie de choléra continue de menacer plus de 2,2 millions d’écoliers à cause du manque d’installations d’infrastructures d’eau et d’assainissement, a souligné vendredi par communiqué de presse le Bureau de coordination des affaires humanitaires (OCHA). Les agences de l’ONU et leurs partenaires prévoient de fournir à plus de 10.000 écoles un kit de prévention composé de savon, de tablette de purification de l’eau et d’affiches de sensibilisation afin de limiter l’épidémie.

Christina Taylor Green was nine years old, born on September 11, 2001.

Her devastated father, John Green, said: She was born on a day of tragedy and she died in tragedy.

Christina already had a bright political future.

She had just been elected to the student council at her elementary school - a post that would be added to her ballet and basketball extracurriculars - and her family were unable to hide their pride.

Hearing of her victory, a kindly neighbour asked if Christina wanted to tag along to a political event that she thought the young girl would enjoy.

We are a world apart, but we are the same. Those are the sentiments echoed in multitudes of letters from U.S. amputees who shared their stories with amputees in Haiti. Selected letters were translated for patients at Hopital Albert Schweitzer in Deschappelles, Haiti.

One of those letters was from 5-year-old Elias Brown who was moved by the story of Schneily Similien, a boy who lost his lower left leg in the Jan. 12 earthquake. At age 4, Schneily is the youngest patient at the hospital.

Elias, who lives in Austin, Texas, knows what it means to be different. Born with a congenital birth defect, his left leg was amputated when he was 2. He wanted to let Schneily know he wasn't alone, said his mother, Meagan Brown.

"Dear Schneily," Elias wrote, "My leg got amputated when I was 2 years old. And then I got my first prosthetic leg a little bit after that. It's hard to have your leg amputated. Don't be scared because God is with you.

When you first get your prosthetic leg you'll be kind of scared because you don't really know how to use it. But if you practice walking a little bit everyday you'll get better and better. And then one day you'll be able to run again!

Sometimes you might be sad that you have a prosthetic leg. But you are just like me! And there are lots of other kids that have prosthetics too. I'll be your friend forever.

When you get your prosthetic leg we can play together and run. I really hope that I can come to Haiti sometime and we can run and play together. Love, Elias."

In Deschapelles, as an interpreter for msnbc.com read the letter to Schneily's family, the boy's father, Ducarmel, smiled widely and gave a thumbs-up sign. "Amen," he replied.

Tew crafted Schneily's artificial leg, which was among 700 limbs made and distributed since February at the prosthetic clinic at the Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Deschapelles. "People have been working and moving foward," said Tew. "It's awesome. I'm impressed."

Sans doute parce que forcées d'abandonner leurs camarades de classes et leurs amitiés des sept dernières années de leur vie en ADS.  

Sans doute forcées d'abandonner leur formation académique en pleine année scolaire, sans raison valable !

Évidence que leur père ne se soucie que de ses propres intérêts politiques.  Pas de leur bien-être et sécurité; pas des dangers de toute nature qui joncheront leur chemin au pays où ceux qui l'avaient rejeté sont encore au timon des affaires nationales. 

Là où les victimes du kidnapping par ses chimères et autres armées privées, hantent encore la mémoire des survivants. 

Que le Dieu miséricordieux protège ces adolescentes, en dépit des crimes de leur père matériel !

A utility worker stumbled upon the remains last week, less than a half-mile from where the girl lived. DNA tests confirm that the remains match Caylee Anthony’s genetic profile, said the medical examiner, Dr. Jan Garavaglia. Caylee’s mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, was indicted in October on first-degree murder and other charges, even though no body was found. She has insisted that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but she didn’t report her missing until July. It took authorities several days to analyze the remains, and some tests are still being completed. Some of the bones were as small as a pebble and had been scattered, and the fragments were hard to find by excavators who searched on their hands and knees, authorities said. The bone fragments did not reveal any trauma before death, Garavaglia said, but exactly what happened to the girl remains a mystery. “Bottom line is, folks, no child should have to go through this,” said Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary. A search team said they did not check the wooded area sooner because it was submerged in water. Beary said his department was investigating reports that the utility worker who called in the tip leading to the discovery of the remains had tried several times in August to call in his suspicion about a bag in the area. “If we missed a window of opportunity we don’t know,” he said. “I’m not throwing anybody under the bus because we don’t know. That’s why we conduct an administrative review.” Casey Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez, was with her at the Orange County Jail shortly after she found out the news from a jail chaplain, said Todd Black, a spokesman for the attorney. A message left for the attorney representing George and Cindy Anthony, Casey’s parents, was not immediately returned. Child protection from violence, exploitation and abuse

Experts urge international community to improve the standard of care for vulnerable children

NEW YORK, United States, 11 October 2011 – Sterling Vincent was just five years old when she was separated from her family in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. A family found the little girl wandering in the rubble and took her in. When asked, Sterling was unable to provide information about her parents or the location of her home.

As a way of gathering information about her past, UNICEF’s emergency team employed a special technique utilising art therapy. Soon after, the five-year-old was drawing pictures of her house and its surroundings. The exercise eventually helped to bring back memories which enabled UNICEF’s team to find her family.

Filling the gap

“What would have happened to Sterling without the family tracing effort?” asked UNICEF’s Deputy Executive Director Officer-in-Charge, Rima Salah, at an event held at United Nations Headquarters, marking the second anniversary of the ‘Guidelines for the Alternative Care of Children’ – the first international framework that help governments, civil society and international organizations, prevent separation of children from their parents and develop child protection systems.

Concerns over children who are without adequate parental care or at risk of separation due to conflict, natural disasters, disability and poverty, were discussed by a panel of experts convened by the Permanent Mission of Brazil to the United Nations.

“While the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child recognizes the child’s rights to be cared for in a family setting, and sets out the States Parties’ obligations to provide suitable alternative care, until recently international instruments offered only partial and limited guidance on steps to prevent separation and to ensure adequate care,” said Ambassador Regina Dunlop, Deputy Representative of the Permanent Mission of Brazil. “So the guidelines, I think, are the first of their kind to fill in this gap.”

Alternative care for children

Today, millions of children are in need of out-of-home care due to their parent’s inability to care for them. They live with relatives, in foster care, in residential facilities, or on the streets and are exposed to the risk of violence and abuse. Speakers at the event urged the international community to improve the quality and standard of care for vulnerable children.

“Providing alternative care for children away from their parents is not a one size fits all process. It should in the first place be necessary,” said Ms. Salah. “And, secondly the care then provided should be a form of care that is the best possible option for the child concerned.”

Ms. Marta Santos Pais, Special Representative of the Secretary General on Violence Against Children, emphasised the need to raise awareness about the guidelines and promote its implementation. “The value of the guidelines will only be acknowledged when they are effectively mainstreamed at the national level,” she stressed. “So far, only 58 countries around the world have developed care standards in light of the guidelines.”

‘Joining hands’

The resolution, tabled by the Brazilian government along with co-sponsors, was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2009.

“We can’t afford the implementation of the guidelines or the implementation of the convention or the fight against violence without joining hands with young people,” said Ms. Santos Pais. “They know best what can work, what is the planning process required, what are the alternatives and how they seem to fit better, to have the bright future that they dream of.”

Mission group uncovers fraud, child trafficking after Haiti quake
GAINESVILLE, Ga.

A Gainesville-based missionary organization said it has uncovered fraud and possible child trafficking in Haiti -- at the same orphanage the group has been trying to help.

"We work where the need is greatest," said Seth Barnes, executive director of Adventures In Missions, which jumped into action of the devastating January 2010 earthquake in Haiti.

Among the projects the organization undertook was helping the children of the Son Of God Orphanage in Carrefour, Haiti.

Barnes told Channel 2's Manuel Bojorquez the orphanage had 125 children. Other organizations and churches jumped in to help the children with food and supplies.

But problems surfaced in August 2010.

"What we saw is that we would deliver a shipment of food and then we'd come back the next day and the food was gone," Barnes said.

"We'd deliver clothes because many of these kids didn't have clothes, and they wouldn't be wearing them. We'd look around and the clothes were gone," he said.

Now, Barnes and others are circulating a petition asking the Haitian government to investigate another problem -- some of the children are missing, the organization said.

Barnes said the orphanage director, Maccene Hyppolite, said many children have returned to be with relatives, but he fears they may have become victims of human trafficking.

This summer, authorities in Haiti arrested Hyppolite, under suspicion of trying to sell a child. They also shut down the orphanage.

Barnes said dozens are unaccounted for and volunteers are working to find them.

He said the organization's work in Haiti will continue and he hopes others will join to bring food, supplies, and now justice to the orphans.

I am confused:   Is it that hot in jungles?  Any jungle? 

I don't think so. 

In fact, small Haiti is reputed for the alarming loss of its green spaces.

And I have yet to read about wild animals   being a problem there.  Except for human kind, i.e. lougarous, tonton makout and other demon-possessed chimeric apatrides and terrorists.

The judge's wife was emotionally abused herself and was severely manipulated into assisting the beating and should not be blamed for any content in this video. The judge's wife has since left the marriage due to the abuse, which continues to this day, and has sincerely apologized and repented for her part and for allowing such a thing, long before this video was even revealed to exist.

Corporal punishment is not acceptable under any circumstances.  Especially in those developed countries, where so many clinical researchers have proven the damaging, detrimental, life altering impact of such a practice on children.

That demon probably caused his daughter's medical condition.  The child's mother revealed that he also abused her. 

The BULLY probably beat Mother (and the embryo) during pregnancy and after the child's birth!

It did not occur to the BULLY that his child could not understand certain notions due to deficits in her mental development.

Cerebral palsy is a group of disorders that can involve brain and nervous system functions such as movement, learning, hearing, seeing, and thinking.

Ther are several different types of cerebral palsy, including spastic, dyskinetic, ataxic, hypotonic, and mixed.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors

Cerebral palsy is caused by injuries or abnormalities of the brain. Most of these problems occur as the baby grows in the womb, but they can happen at any time during the first 2 years of life, while the baby's brain is still developing.

In some people with cerebral palsy, parts of the brain are injured due to low levels of oxygen (hypoxia) in the area. It is not known why this occurs.

Premature infants have a slightly higher risk of developing cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy may also occur during early infancy as a result of several conditions, including:

Symptoms

Symptoms of cerebral palsy can be very different between people with this group of disorders. Symptoms may:

§  Be very mild or very severe

§  Only involve one side of the body or both sides

§  Be more pronounced in either the arms or legs, or involve both the arms and legs

Symptoms are usually seen before a child is 2 years old, and sometimes begin as early as 3 months. Parents may notice that their child is delayed in reaching, and in developmental stages such as sitting, rolling, crawling, or walking.

Un coach retraité de l'équipe universitaire de football américain, Jerry Sandusky, a été inculpé pour des abus sexuels présumés commis sur huit garçons qui avaient entre dix et quinze ans à l'époque des faits. Alors que les têtes tombent les unes après les autres pour avoir étouffé les accusations, l'affaire émerge comme la pire du genre aux Etats-Unis depuis celle des prêtres pédophiles couverts par l’évêque de Boston, en 2002. Une question: qui savait quoi, et quand?

Les 23 pages de l'acte d'accusation décrivent comment Sandusky, 67 ans aujourd'hui, a utilisé l'organisation caritative pour enfants défavorisés qu'il avait fondée pour entrer en contact avec ses victimes pendant plus de dix ans, à partir du milieu des années 90. La plupart venait de familles d'accueil (foster homes). Jerry Sandusky les hébergeait parfois chez lui. Souvent, il les emmenait à des matches ou des entraînements des Nittany Lions, la prestigieuse équipe de football de Penn State où il officiait comme coordinateur de la défense.

Attouchements, fellations et sodomie dans le vestiaire

En 1998, une enquête est ouverte par la police du campus, alors qu'une mère accuse Sandusky de s'être douché avec son fils. Les choses en restent là. L'année suivante, il apprend cependant qu'il ne succédera pas au coach de légende Joe Paterno. Sandusky prend alors sa retraite, mais il continue d'avoir accès aux infrastructures de l'université pour son association.

Les premières victimes, dont les témoignages ont été retranscrits à un grand jury, relatent des «contacts inappropriés», notamment lors de séances improvisées de lutte avec le coach. Un adolescent affirme avoir subi des fellations à 20 reprises quand il avait 13 ans, et avoir été forcé d'en effectuer au moins une.

Tout bascule en 2002. Un vendredi soir, un membre du staff, également étudiant à Penn State, revient au vestiaire. Selon son témoignage, il entend «un son rythmique ressemblant à une activité sexuelle». Dans les douches, il aperçoit un garçon «sans doute âgé de 10 ans» en train «d'être sodomisé» par Jerry Sandusky.

Sur les conseils de son père, l'étudiant se confie à la personne en qui il a le plus confiance: le coach en chef de l'équipe, Joe Paterno, une figure admirée par des millions d'Américains. A partir de là, les versions divergent.

Paterno, une légende ternie

Paterno, qui n'est pour l'instant pas visé par l'enquête, jure que l'étudiant ne lui a pas donné de détails et a simplement fait état d'une conduite «inappropriée». Le jour suivant, le coach le plus titré de l'histoire du football universitaire décide de passer la balle à ses supérieurs: le directeur des sports de l'université, Tim Curley, et un vice-président de l'établissement, Gary Schultz, qui entendent à leur tour le témoin. Sandusky reçoit alors l'interdiction d'amener des enfants sur le campus.

Face au grand jury, Curley a nié que le témoin ait, à l'époque, mentionné un «acte sexuel». Schultz, lui, a juré que les faits qui lui avaient été rapportés n'étaient «pas aussi sérieux». Malgré tout, les deux hommes ont été poussés à la démission le week-end dernier. Lundi, ils ont été inculpés pour avoir menti sous serment.

Pour l'instant, Joe Paterno semble être passé au travers des gouttes. Il devait s'expliquer lors d'une conférence de presse, mardi, mais elle a finalement été annulée au dernier moment. Selon le New York Times, le coach de 84 ans pourrait être mis à la retraite dans les jours ou les semaines à venir.

Loi du football, loi du silence

Le football universitaire est un sport professionnel qui ne dit pas son nom. Il brasse des milliards de dollars. Il remplit des stades de 100.000 places. Les matches sont télévisés. Les joueurs ne sont pas payés mais ils reçoivent des bourses universitaires. Les plus grands coaches comme Paterno touchent 1 million de dollars par an. Les franchises stars réalisent entre 40 et 60 millions de dollars de bénéfices.

Régulièrement, des scandales éclatent avec des joueurs qui touchent de l'argent de manière détournée, comme Reggie Bush en 2005. Une pratique (pay to play) sur laquelle les coaches et les directeurs sportifs ferment souvent les yeux.

L'université de Penn State a-t-elle étouffé l'affaire pour ne pas détruire la réputation d'une franchise aussi glorieuse que juteuse? Le procès devrait faire toute la lumière. Et forcer le football universitaire à commencer son grand ménage.

Les administrateurs de Penn State ont congédié l'entraîneur de l'équipe de football Joe Paterno et le président de l'université Graham Spanier à la suite du scandale concernant des accusations d'abus sexuels portées contre un ancien adjoint de l'équipe.

Cette annonce est survenue mercredi soir quelques heures après que Paterno eut annoncé qu'il avait l'intention de prendre sa retraite à la fin de la saison, sa 46e à la tête de l'équipe.

Toutefois, le scandale qui a suivi l'arrestation de l'ancien entraîneur adjoint Jerry Sandusky, accusé d'agressions sexuelles contre de jeunes garçons, a été jugé trop important par le conseil pour ne pas réagir.

Un avocat qui agit comme conseiller auprès de certaines de victimes du scandale d'agressions sexuelles de Penn State dit craindre qu'elles ne deviennent les boucs émissaires des gens qui s'indignent du départ précipité de Joe Paterno.

Ben Andreozzi, un avocat de Harrisburg, a déclaré jeudi que les victimes «regardent maintenant les gens défiler et manifester» et qu'il est «naïf de croire que cela ne va pas avoir un impact sur ces victimes».

Mercredi soir, des étudiants en colère ont bruyamment manifesté dans les rues leur soutien à l'endroit de l'entraîneur de l'équipe de football de 84 ans. Ils ont même renversé la camionnette d'une station de télé.

Andreozzi se spécialise dans les affaires d'agression sexuelle. Il affirme qu'il travaille dans le but d'apporter un soutien thérapeutique aux victimes, mais il ne va pas jusqu'à dire qu'il est officiellement leur représentant.

Il a dit ne pas vouloir influencer le déroulement des instances judiciaires au criminel. L'ancien entraîneur adjoint Jerry Sandusky a été accusé d'avoir agressé huit garçons pendant une période de 15 ans.

Par ailleurs, la NCAA a dit qu'elle surveillait les événements à Penn State, mais qu'elle s'en remettait pour l'instant aux enquêteurs criminels.

«La NCAA laissera la place à court terme aux autorités policières étant donné que la situation implique des crimes prétendus, a déclaré le président Mark Emmert, jeudi. Quand les faits seront établis au moyen du système judiciaire, nous déterminerons si les règles de l'association ont été violées et nous réagirons en fonction de cela.»

À la suite des accusations déposées à l'endroit de Sandusky, l'entraîneur-chef de longue date Paterno et le président de Penn State Graham Spanier ont été congédiés, mercredi soir. Le directeur athlétique Tim Curley et le vice-président de l'institution Gary Schultz ont été accusés d'avoir omis de signaler aux autorités un incident impliquant Sandusky qui a été porté à leur attention en 2002.

DOSSIER: «L'ABUS SEXUEL»:
Recension des écrits
par Stéphane Vincelette, UQTR, 24 mars 1997.
Dans le cadre du cours EFI-1057, présenté à M. Gaétan Gagnon

INTRODUCTION:

Lors de la première partie de ce travail, présenté précédemment, nous avions dressé un tableau du sujet à partir des éléments de vie connus sur celui-ci, classés en relation avec les cinq domaines de description de la personne. À la lecture de ce bilan, certaines problématiques ont semblé ressurgir. La présente partie du travail a pour but de présenter une recension des écrits afin de nous aider à mieux comprendre le sujet. La problématique choisie, suite à cette lecture, en est une d'adolescent abuseur sexuel puisqu'elle apparaît comme étant la plus significative.

NOTE: Ce document fait parti d'un travail universitaire, pour des raisons de confidentialité, nous ne publions ici que la recension des écrits.

La faible quantité de documentation concernant l'adolescent abuseur nous a amené à consulter des écrits plus spécifiquement reliés à la victime d'abus sexuel. De plus, il nous semblait important de mettre en lumière, la dynamique de l'enfant abusé sexuellement et les conséquences de l'abus sur celui-ci, et ce, dans le but bien défini de mieux comprendre et analyser, dans une partie subséquente, le comportement du sujet.

En premier lieu, nous identifierons les principales caractéristiques de cette clientèle en utilisant les cinq domaines précédemment utilisés lors du bilan. Pour certains auteurs, suivra une identification du cadre de référence utilisé par ceux-ci, de même que les instruments de collecte de données et/ou les méthodes d'analyse de données suggérées par ces auteurs. Suivra, enfin, une identification et une brève description des principes et/ou ressources d'intervention suggérée par ces mêmes auteurs.

PRINCIPALES CARACTÉRISTIQUES DE L'ENFANT ABUSÉ:

De leur côté, Damant (1993) et Pauzé, Mercier et al.(1994) cite la dynamique traumatisante des abus sexuels en se référant à Finkelhor et Browne (1985: voir Damant, 1993) qui en citent quatre. Ce serait une expérience traumatisante modifiant la perception cognitive ou émotive faussant par la suite, le concept de soi de l'enfant, sa vision du monde et ses capacités affectives.

On retrouve en premier, la sexualisation traumatisante. Celle-ci s'expliquerait par la participation de l'enfant à des activités sexuelles non-conformes à son stade de développement et s'inscrivant dans un cadre où la sexualité ne devrait pas s'actualiser (rapport de dépendance face à l'adulte). De plus, un enfant se sentant plus engagé dans cette relation sexualisée et ressentant des sensations physiques pourrait développer un sentiment de confusion et de culpabilité. Haesevoets (1996) vient corroborer ce sentiment de culpabilité suite au plaisir ressenti. S'il existe des bénéfices secondaires, cela pourrait amener l'enfant à utiliser ses comportements comme stratégie de manipulation pour répondre à ses besoins.

Les conséquences au niveau affectif pourraient être les suivantes: préoccupations sexuelles inappropriées pour leur âge et des comportements sexuels compulsifs, de même que de la curiosité sexuelle excessive, voire même compulsive. Au niveau cognitif, le concept de soi peut être affecté par cette confusion.

En deuxième lieu, on découvre la stigmatisation. Elle est une cicatrice d'une blessure au niveau émotif. C'est un mécanisme transmettant à l'enfant des messages négatifs à son égard, modifiant, du même coup, son image de soi. La pression de l'abuseur pour imposer le silence à l'enfant, la réaction de l'entourage, de même que la connaissance, par l'enfant, des tabous sociaux peuvent entraîner un sentiment de honte et de culpabilité. Pauzé, Mercier et al.(1994) tiennent un langage similaire dans leur ouvrage.

Au niveau des conséquences affectives, l'enfant se sent méchant, honteux, coupable et cela entraîne des sentiments dépressifs. De Young (1982: voir Damant, 1993) indique que le jeune peut adopter des comportements suicidaires. Au niveau social, il peut s'associer avec des pairs marginaux ou encore s'isoler des pairs. Selon Finkelhor (1979: voir Damant, 1993), les familles où se produisent des abus sexuels, sont souvent isolées socialement, donc le jeune a tendance à s'isoler encore plus. Langevin et Lindsay notent à peu de choses près, la même tendance au niveau de l'abuseur. On mentionne de plus, une mauvaise estime de soi (dévastatrice, tant sur le développement de la personne que sur ses capacités personnelles et interpersonnelles).

En troisième lieu, on retrouve la trahison. C'est le processus par lequel une personne dont dépend la victime, lui cause du tord (Finkelhor et Browne (1985: voir Damant, 1993)). Plus l'enfant a un rapport de confiance avec l'abuseur, plus ce sera traumatisant pour lui. Ce processus peut s'adresser autant à l'abuseur qu'envers les membres de la famille qui n'ont pu empêcher l'abus ou qui ne l'ont pas cru.

Comme conséquences émotives et sociales, on identifiera un besoin de retrouver la confiance et la sécurité perdues ce qui amène parfois l'enfant à démontrer des comportements de dépendance excessive (Finkelhor (1986: voir Damant, 1993)). La victime peut également développer des comportements d'hostilité, de colère et d'isolement. Selon Meiselman (1978: voir Damant, 1993) et Russell (1986: voir Damant, 1993), la victime continue d'éprouver des sentiments négatifs à l'égard de sa mère, de l'abuseur et vit des sentiments de peur, de colère ou de méfiance à l'égard des hommes. Pauzé, Mercier et al. (1994) ont pu le constater également.

En quatrième lieu, on retrouve l'impuissance. Elle est la conséquence du processus par lequel la volonté, les désirs et le sens d'efficacité de l'enfant sont transgressés. Plus l'enfant tente de contrer l'abus sans succès ou encore que l'abus implique de la violence physique ou des menaces de violence, plus ce sentiment d'impuissance augmente.

Anderson et al (1981: voir Damant, 1993) ont décelé des séquelles psychosociales intériorisées telles, des problèmes de sommeil et d'alimentation, peurs et phobies, dépression et des séquelles extériorisées telles, problèmes scolaires et fugues. Quant à Edwards et Donaldson (1989: voir Damant, 1993), Briere (1989: voir Damant 1993) et Courtois (1989: voir Damant, 1993), ils identifient également des symptômes comme la peur, problèmes d'évitement et de dissociation. Cette dernière n'est pas une faiblesse, mais bien, un mécanisme de défense. Cependant, à l'adolescence ou à l'âge adulte, la victime risque de généraliser ce moyen de défense lors d'événements anxiogènes (Pauzé, Mercier et al. (1994)).

Haesevoets (1996) dans son essai de conceptualisation clinique sur les symptômes de l'enfant victime d'inceste nous éclaire sur les conséquences de l'abus sexuel de l'enfant. Selon lui, à partir du moment où un enfant est abusé sur le plan sexuel à l'intérieur de sa famille par un proche parent, il est susceptible d'être confronté aux phénomènes psycho-dynamiques suivants:

Au niveau affectif:
- une intrusion physique et sexuelle qui génère des blessures symboliques;
- des sentiments de culpabilité qui entretiennent le processus de victimisation;
- des sentiments de peur qui s'expriment à travers la terreur, l'angoisse et les cauchemars;
- une dépression, révélatrice d'une souffrance aiguë;
- un manque d'estime de soi qui induit la perte de l'amour-propre;
- des sentiments de colère et d'hostilité qui se retournent parfois contre soi;
- l'incapacité de faire confiance;

Au niveau socio-affectif:
- une pseudo maturité qui produit un discours adultoïde et une parentification du comportement.
- une sexualisation précoce (traumatique) qui induit des conduites sexuelles inappropriées;
- la reproduction des attitudes abusives sur la génération suivante.
- des troubles relationnels qui entraînent des problèmes de sociabilité;

Au niveau cognitivo-affectif:
- une confusion psychique intimement liée à l'inversion des rôles générationnels;
- un trouble de l'identité, avec clivage du moi;
- un blocage des processus psychiques qui viennent enrayer la pensée et le raisonnement;
- une absence de limites entre le corps et les territoires;
- des mécanismes d'identification à l'abuseur par introjection;

De plus, l'auteur mentionne que l'évaluation de l'impact de l'abus sexuel sur l'enfant doit tenir compte des critères suivants:
- sa biographie personnelle;
- son âge réel et son degré de maturité psychoaffective;
- son écologie évolutive normale, son bagage personnel, sa "richesse intérieure";

Au niveau social:
- ses interactions sociales;

Au niveau cognitivo-affectif:
- son degré de vulnérabilité;
- son rôle dans l'interaction abusive;

Au niveau environnemental:
- place, rôle et statut au sein de sa famille;

Au niveau cognitif:
- sa conscience du monde et de lui-même;
- son niveau de mentalisation;

Au niveau affectif:
- son niveau de maîtrise de soi;
- ses sentiments, émotions, réactions et attitudes;
- ses potentialités réparatrices.

Haesevoets (1996) nous renseigne également sur l'impact visible de l'abus sur le comportement de l'enfant abusé.

Chez les très jeunes enfants:
- Surtout des troubles comportementaux et des conduites sexuelles anormales (socio-affectif).

Chez les enfants d'âge préscolaire:
- des cauchemars, de l'angoisse, des signes dépressifs, quelques préoccupations d'ordre somatique, des conduites régressives, des troubles de la conduite sexuelle, de l'agressivité labile, des déficits du développement (affectif).

Chez les enfants d'âge scolaire:
- signes de dépression, des angoisses phobiques, des sentiments de manque de confiance, de dégoût, de colère et de haine, des traits de parentification, une faible estime de soi, des problèmes narcissiques ou d'identité, des phobies, des sentiments profonds de culpabilité, l'impression d'être différent des autres, des troubles du sommeil (affectif).

Chez les jeunes adolescents:
- Les troubles sont plus incrustés
- signes majeurs de dépression, une image de soi dévalorisée, des troubles identitaires, des blocages émotionnels importants, des conduites asociales et autodestructrices, la détresse psychologique est souvent accompagnée d'idées mortifères, d'idéation suicidaire, de passage à l'acte, des troubles de la sexualité (affectif).

La violence ou/et la coercition, la durée et la fréquence de l'abus, la nature de l'acte sexuel, la proximité relationnelle avec l'abuseur et les attitudes du parent non-abuseur ont un impact déterminant sur la sévérité de l'abus et sa symptômatologie. Pauzé, Mercier et al.(1994) ajoutent que le sexe de la victime et de l'agresseur, l'âge de l'assaillant ont également leur incidence. Le syndrôme d'accommodation lui permet de trouver un compromis psychodynamique entre sa situation d'otage familial et celle d'esclave sexuel(le). Pauzé, Mercier et al. décrivent ce cycle de la façon suivante: le secret, l'impuissance, le sentiment d'être pris au piège et l'accommodation, la divulgation contradictoire (non convaincante), et la rétractation.

Plusieurs facteurs peuvent conduire un enfant à participer à une interaction sexuelle avec un adulte: le manque de maturité, d'expérience, la curiosité sexuelle infantile, la naïveté, la séduction, la recherche de privilèges, le désir de contacts physiques, la confiance aveugle, l'attirance naturelle envers un adulte distributeur de caresses.

Finkelhor et Browne (1985: voir Haesevoets, 1996) rapportent que les facteurs traumatogènes "altèrent les perceptions et les émotions concernant l'environnement et créent un traumatisme par distorsion de l'image propre qu'a l'enfant de lui-même, de sa vision du monde et de ses capacités affectives".

De son côté, Foucault (1990), nous offre une série de symptômes pouvant témoigner d'un abus sexuel chez un enfant.

Au niveau affectif: l'agressivité flottante (sautes d'humeur soudaines et imprévisibles et surtout les manifestations d'agressivité disproportionnées témoignent de tension intérieure dont l'enfant ne parvient pas à se libérer), les sentiments de culpabilité ou de dévalorisation ( il éclate en sanglot ou il surréagit à la suite d'une simple remarque), l'oscillation constante (ne semble plus savoir comment réagir, le jeune abusé fait souvent peur par l'extrémisme et l'incohérence de ses réactions émotives), la loi du tout ou rien (incapable de nuancer, inconscient de la gravité de ses gestes, ou au contraire, facilement dévalorisé par des gestes bénins posés à son endroit), le comportement sexuel anormal "indice capitale" ( masturbation, fellation, tente sans retenue de caresser, de toucher les organes génitaux), l'auto-agression, maturité surfaite.

Au niveau social: l'isolement et la fugue.

Fouillez à votre guise pour des rapports contenant des données statistiques et autres arguments plus récents.    

N.B.  C'est possible que l'accusé fût aussi victime d’abus sexuel dans son jeune âge.  Ce qui me révolte, c'est l'idee qu'il aurait  continué à victimiser des jeunes à travers les ans, et que l'administration de l'université, à travers le coach, eût opté d’ignorer le rapport du gérant/nettoyeur de la salle de bain.

Le meurtrier d'Océane a été victime d'agression sexuelle dans son enfance

«Travailleur», «tout sauf marginal», souffrant d'alcoolisme ponctuel et agressé sexuellement à 13 ans: le profil du meurtrier de la petite fille se précise au fil de ses aveux et des témoignages de proches.

Le meurtrier de la petite Océane, une fillette de 8 ans tuée samedi dernier à Bellegarde (Gard), a été victime d'agression sexuelle lorsqu'il avait 13 ans, a indiqué samedi à l'AFP une source proche du dossier, confirmant une information du Parisien-Aujourd'hui en France.

Cet homme de 25 ans, père de trois enfants dont un bébé de deux mois, "a été victime d'agression sexuelle, lorsqu'il était âgé de près de 13 ans, perpétrée par un ami de la famille qui a été jugé et condamné pour ces faits", a précisé cette source.

«Tout sauf un marginal»

Titulaire d'un CAP carrosserie, il avait eu comme dernier emploi avant les faits un poste en intérim dans les espaces verts, selon cette source. Auparavant, il avait eu de multiples emplois, notamment dans une grande surface de viande ou en tant qu'ouvrier agricole dans des vignes.

"C'est tout sauf un marginal, ajoute cette source.Il souffrait d'un problème d'alcoolisme ponctuel, c'est-à-dire que quand il n'allait pas bien, au lieu de prendre un Lexomil, il prenait de l'alcool".

Sa compagne âgée de 22 ans et mère de ses deux derniers enfants, s'est dite samedi, dans une interview au quotidien Midi Libre, "anéantie" par l'affaire.

"Il n'y a rien dans le comportement de Nico qui aurait pu laisser penser à ça", a-t-elle ajouté, décrivant une "vie de famille normale" et son compagnon comme étant "tendre et travailleur" et "un père tendre qui s'occupait bien de ses enfants". Elle a précisé qu'il avait un "gros" problème d'alcool: "il se cachait parfois pour boire. Moi je ne voulais pas qu'il boive à la maison à cause des enfants", raconte-t-elle.

«C'est moi qui ai tué Océane!»

Elle relate le moment où il lui a avoué les faits: "il n'arrivait pas à me le dire. Puis il a dit: "c'est moi". "Mais quoi toi?" "C'est moi, c'est moi. C'est moi qui ai tué Océane". Il s'est mis à genoux, il n'arrêtait pas de pleurer".

"Quand il est parti se livrer, il était vraiment dans un état de détresse, de souffrance, j'ai cru qu'il allait se suicider alors j'ai appelé la gendarmerie pour leur dire ce qu'il m'avait avoué. Et je leur ai dit qu'il allait se rendre. Je voulais être sûre qu'il y était. J'avais peur pour sa vie", a-t-elle dit.

Océane a été tuée samedi dernier après être sortie pour se rendre chez une amie habitant à 300 mètres de son domicile. L'autopsie de son corps, découvert dimanche matin, a révélé qu'elle avait été victime d'attouchements sexuels, asphyxiée et poignardée à quatre reprises. Le meurtrier s'est présenté mardi soir à la gendarmerie pour demander à effectuer un test ADN avant d'avouer les faits.

A boy of ten suspected to have been kidnapped by a paedophile was rescued after he was seen banging on a flat window shouting ‘please help, I’ve been kidnapped’.

He had been snatched off the street 300 yards from his home.

He was found naked and tied to a radiator with a white sheet in the empty flat two hours later after shouting to a passing woman for help.

The flat is part of a block which houses some ex-offenders 300yds from the victim’s own home and around 500yds from a school.

Jean Masih, 49, saw the boy at the window as she walked by the property in Oldbury, West Midlands, on Sunday morning on her way to a shop.

She had been looking out for him  after relatives told her he had failed to return after going out to buy a fizzy drink.

The mother-of-11 said: ‘His arms looked like they were bound and he had a white sheet wrapped around his body. I asked who was in the house and he said “no one, the man has gone and left me”.

‘I told him to wait and I ran to call the police.’ Moments later the boy was rescued by officers and last night the ground-floor flat was being searched by a forensic team.

Neighbour Lee Lundy said police had told him the flat was done up like ‘Santa’s grotto’ with tinsel, trees and presents inside.

He described it as a ‘half-way house’, while a former drugs offender who used to live in the block said he had been introduced to the address through his probation officer.

He said: ‘Some of the residents were ex-offenders. There were lots of suspicious-looking people there.’

Three men aged 49, 30 and 48, were arrested at a separate location in the nearby district of Tividale a short time later. They were still being questioned on suspicion of kidnap last night.

One of the men is understood to live at the flat, where computer equipment has been removed for examination.

The boy was taken to hospital but was said to be uninjured. Police said he would be ‘very slowly and carefully interviewed’ in the coming days.

A spokesman said the three men have no known connection to the boy.

Last night, the family’s rented three-bedroom semi-detached home stood empty. Neighbours said they had only moved to the area a year ago, but had ‘packed up and left’ following their ordeal.

A next door neighbour said: ‘The sad thing is that his mum was always saying that she felt the kids were safer than where she was before.

‘Because it’s a cul de sac the kids could play outside and she would let him walk to the shops to get a can of pop.

‘She was so worried because he always walked straight home like she told him.’

She said that the boy’s mother had been ‘absolutely beside herself’ and she had seen her ‘screaming and crying’ at police officers to ‘find him, find him’. She added: ‘Then a local lady, Jean, came up the road and said “They’ve found him, they’ve got him”.’

The flat where the boy was held lies close to two primary schools.

Mr Lundy added: ‘It’s been a halfway house for quite a few years. We’re not very pleased that people like that live around here.’ He said there was ‘always trouble’ at the block.

It is run by a charity called Adullam Homes Housing Association which supports and mentors ‘vulnerable people throughout the...Midlands’. Last night, there was no answer at its West Bromwich office.

West Midlands Police said the block was owned by a housing association and ‘we would like to make it clear the property is not a bail hostel’.

Last night, up to 200 protesters gathered outside the block of flats, watched by police.

Aaron Stevens, 32, who organised the gathering, said: ‘People are really angry. Police say it’s not a bail hostel but we’ve heard there may have been paedophiles in there.’

Teen Kills Self After 144 Tweets About Abuse

Texas high school senior Ashley Billasano posted 144 tweets that alleged sexual abuse by a family member and others before taking her own life on Tuesday, November 8th. The 18-year-old posted these allegations on Twitter over the course of six hours and not one of her 500+ followers reported her anguished cries for help to authorities, reports MyFox Houston.

The pretty teen, known as Billy, attended the BF Terry High School in Rosenberg, a suburb of Houston. In Billisano’s tweets, she indicated that she had been sexually abused for years, starting at age 14 and was even forced into prostitution.

Chief Craig Brady with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department confirms that Billasano reported her abuse claims to investigators in central Texas about one year ago. "My understanding, that was looked into the sheriff's office there, the D.A'S office and a grand jury. There was no indictment issued."

Billasano was distraught that authorities were not going to go any further with her case. She tweeted:

"Weeks passed, then I got the call. They said sorry but there isn't enough evidence I hung up." "That's when I changed I didn't care anymore and the people I was meeting gave me no reason to."

Billisano’s tweets talked about how she dealt with the pain of her abuse:

"I went to the bathroom and locked the door" "I took apart a razor. I did what I had to do to forget. I swear after that night I was never the same"

One of her haunting final tweets read: "I'd love to hear what you have to say but I won't be around."

Her very last tweet: "Take two. I hope I get this right."

Billisano committed suicide by suffocation.

A Facebook memorial page, R.I.P. Ashley Marie Billasano, has been set up in honor of Ashley and already has over 5,000 “likes.” The posts on the page appear to be coming from her mother.

The most haunting question of all is why didn’t anyone help Ashley?

What a sad story!

Many "WHYs" are crossing my mind about the child's family caught in this quagmire of destructive acts and feelings.

Even though she was legally an adult, she was still a child, a wounded soul, emotionally assassinated at the time that the demons shattered her innocence.

The news report stated, “Billisano committed suicide by suffocation”. 

Has there been a preliminary investigation to rule out homicide? 

Revenge by the perps also crosses my mind. 

Suicide by suffocation sounds fishy. 

Why suffocation, with more rapid options out there?  It must have been hard for the child to achieve, unless she swallowed some sleeping potion and/or pills first. 

My heart goes out to those who’ve known and loved this child.

May God forgive those who’ve hurt her so deeply, and hopefully turn them into activists against sex exploitation of children and all feeble human beings.

PHILADELPHIA - November 15, 2011 (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating the alleged assault of an 8-year-old boy inside a school bathroom.

Inside the walls of Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia, one mother says her 8-year-old son couldn't fight off the three 4th graders who sexually assaulted him.

Action News is not identifying the mother to protect her son's identity.

"I felt helpless, it took him almost 7 hours to try to tell me what happened," the mother told Action News.

The advanced student is in the same grade and class as his alleged 10-year-old attackers.

He got permission to go to the bathroom late last month and the other boys followed.

His mother says a few weeks before the incident, he told the school the boys were bullying him.

Bryant investigated the assault and says it only found evidence of bullying and suspended the three students.

"Five days, they got five days for bullying, that's an outrage," the mother said.

But now the special victims unit is investigating.

The district says it knows policy was broken and all four students shouldn't have been allowed to go to the bathroom at the same time.

The school sent out a letter informing parents that counselors have already met with classes to discuss inappropriate behavior.

Next week, a resource officer will hold assemblies on bullying, good decision making, violence and respect.

The mother, however, says it's too late for her son.

"If the school board's policy is to protect our children, why aren't they doing that before a child gets hurt?" she said.

She says her son is in counseling and he's been transferred to another school.

Sorry folks for inundating you with such bad news about children these.  They just keep popping frequently on the screens -- TV and Web! 

You can opt to skip.

My concern is that parents, caregivers, police, everyone  everywhere, are not proactive enough in protecting children.  

Our heirs need us to treat them well so that they may develop healthy self-esteem and self-worth.  They need to trust us to protect them against evilness of all persuasion around them.  

They need us to be well informed, competent, but above all, to love them dearly, to be compassionate and respectful of their littleness, so that they may feel safe in this rotten world.

Bottom line:  Children don't care about money, unless we show them that it, and all material goods, are more valuable than they.  They care about being your priority, being seen, heard, protected. 

Get to know them better than anyone, and you might be able to safe them from a few trauma.

You'll sleep better!
